Whether organizing neighbors for a community project, speaking up at a Town Council meeting, or running for and serving in public office, women have important things to say and contribute to their communities. Learn to bring your experiences, perspectives and insights to the process of building healthy families, schools, workplaces, and communities.

We offer a variety of workshops, classes, and individual assistance:

Exploring Options, Developing Skills

Finding and Using Your Voice is a 3 hour workshop to help women identify issues important to them and learn effective ways for sharing personal stories and advocating for change. This workshop is recommended as preparation for other leadership and advocacy activities and classes.

Finding Your Voice, Using Your Power, 3 or 4 session workshop to help women identify the values and issues important to them, develop and practice leadership skills in a supportive environment, learn about community resources and how to turn ideals into action. Recommended as more advanced preparation for other leadership and advocacy activities and classes.

Women’s Leadership Series, 5 - 6 workshop sessions to help women learn about important issues facing their communities, develop skills, and build networks to facilitate positive change. Each session includes a panel of local resources and role models and time for discussing and applying the information presented.

Women Making a Difference is a 10 - 12 week course to help women explore how we as individuals contribute to our local economy, how decisions about issues important to our lives are made, and ways to become involved in shaping our community’s future. In a supportive atmosphere, share ideas, develop and practice leadership skills, experience a day of outdoor adventure learning, and learn tools to help build stronger communities.

Policy and Advocacy Events. Women, Work, and Community collaborates in offering a variety of events, conferences, and networking opportunities to develop leadership and advocacy skills.

  • A Day at the State House offers opportunities to hear what advocates and Legislators are working on to improve women’s economic security and strengthen the Maine economy. Check Events to see what is coming up.

Other Leadership Options

Ambassador Club is a leadership program for individuals who have successfully completed WWC’s programs and demonstrated commitment and leadership. Potential Ambassadors should be interested in ways to connect with each other, build their skills, and be an active advocate for WWC and women’s economic security. By invitation; please
let your local Coordinator or Trainer know of your interest in becoming an Ambassador.
