LET’S HEAR IT FOR OUR SIX STATEWIDE CHAMPIONS!
May 21, 2009 – WWC’s 30th Anniversary Grand Finale celebrated six women for their efforts on behalf of women and communities. From left: Candace Sanborn, Encompass Marketing & Design, Kathy Dexter, UMA’s Dean of Students, Florence Young, LCSW of Casey Family Services, Meredith Jones, CEO of Maine Community Foundation, Mary McPherson, Consultant and Former WWC Advisory Chair, and Lu Bauer, CPA of A Balancing Act.
This final celebration in the series of twelve regional and statewide events capped our 30th anniversary year. WWC hosted about 100 partners, participants, and champions at the Fireplace Lounge of the RJ Randall Student Center at UMA. After a warm welcome by UMA President Handley, guests were treated to a walk down Memory Lane by Executive Director Gilda Nardone. Champions were then applauded, and New Ventures graduate Edie Benttinen, co-owner of D&E Metalworks, spoke about her experience with WWC. Light fare and beverages were provided, with music by UMA’s Café Ensemble. There were delicious pies available as a thank you for donations to WWC.
